Tanganyika cichlid aquarium

A biotope for the cichlids of the deepest lake in Africa. Unique species with complex social behaviours.

Detailed explanation

Lake Tanganyika is home to unique cichlids: Tropheus (colonial herbivores), Julidochromis (monogamous pairs among the rocks), Neolamprologus (conchigliophiles living in shells), Frontosa (majestic predators).

Parameters: pH 7.8-9.0, GH 10-20, temperature 24-27 degrees. The water of Tanganyika is the most alkaline of the large African ponds.

Lamprologus multifasciatus live in colonies of empty snail shells - a sight in a dedicated nano aquarium.
