Alternanthera reineckii (and the varieties Mini, Rosanervig, Rosaefolia) is one of the easiest red plants to maintain.

Requires medium-high light and CO2 for best colours but survives even in less ideal conditions remaining reddish-green.

The Mini variety is very popular for aquascaping: it forms compact red bushes ideal for the foreground.

Iron is important for colours. Regular pruning keeps the plant compact and dense.
