Detailed explanation
The most common species are C. wendtii, C. undulata, C. beckettii, C. parva, C. balansae. They grow from an underground rhizome and propagate by stolons.
The crypt melt is typical: after transplanting the leaves melt. Don't throw the plant away: the rhizome produces new leaves in 2-4 weeks.
The tolerated parameters are wide: pH 6.0-7.5, low-medium light. They do not require CO2. They are substrate plants: the roots absorb nutrients from the bottom.
