Detailed explanation
The Hamburg Matten Filter is a large-pore sponge wall that divides the aquarium into two sections. Water passes through the sponge (sucked in by a pump or airlifter to the other side) and bacteria colonise the huge surface area.
The filtering volume is enormously superior to any internal filter. Maintenance is minimal: one rinse every 6-12 months.
It is the preferred choice for: breeding and breeding aquariums, quarantine aquariums, shrimp aquariums. Economical to build with hardware store sponge.
