Neons and cardinals
Small tropical fish with a characteristic blue and red colour. Among the most popular freshwater fish. They should be kept in packs of at least 10 specimens.
Detailed explanation
The Neon (Paracheirodon innesi) and the Cardinal (Paracheirodon axelrodi) are the most iconic fish in tropical aquariums.
They are gregarious fish that should be kept in schools of at least 10, preferably 15-20. Ideal parameters: pH 5.5-7.0, GH 2-10, temperature 22-26 degrees (Neon) or 24-28 (Cardinal).
Neon disease (Pleistophora) is an incurable microsporidiosis that causes bleaching of the blue band.
Ideal companions are Corydoras, Rasbore, small Gourami, Amano shrimp. Avoid adult scalars that eat them.
