Freshwater pufferfish (Carinotetraodon, Tetraodon) are small predators with a strong character.
The Dwarf Pea Puffer (Carinotetraodon travancoricus, 2-3 cm) is the most suitable species for the home aquarium. It lives in pure freshwater and eats snails, bloodworms and small crustaceans.
The beak of pufferfish grows continuously like the teeth of rodents. You need hard food (snails with shells, shrimp with exoskeletons) to consume it.
They are aggressive: the Pea Puffer should be kept alone or in a group with plenty of hiding places. They are not compatible with long-finned fish.
