Pogostemon

Genus of aquatic plants native to Asia. Among the most versatile for aquascaping with unique textures and shapes.

Detailed explanation

The main species: P. helferi (curled star-shaped leaves, unique effect), P. erectus (light green vertical bushes), P. octopus (long, narrow leaves).

P. helferi (Downoi) is one of the most characteristic plants of modern aquascaping. It grows slowly but forms compact rosettes of curling leaves.

P. erectus is easy and versatile, suitable as a medium height plant. Grows rapidly with CO2.

All species benefit from nutrient substrate and CO2 but P. erectus also works in low-tech aquariums.
