Roller mat (roller filter)

Automatic mechanical filtration system that replaces filter socks. A roll of non-woven fabric filters the water and advances automatically.

Detailed explanation

The roller mat is the modern evolution of mechanical filtration in the sump. A roll of non-woven fabric filters the water, capturing solid particles.

When the fabric becomes clogged, a level sensor detects the rise in water and a motor advances the roll, exposing clean fabric. The dirty fabric winds onto a second collection roller.

The advantages compared to traditional filter socks are: no manual intervention for weeks, constant filtration, cleaner water.

The most popular brands are: Clarisea (the most popular), Theiling Rollermat, IceCap Smart Fleece, Innovative Marine. Prices vary from 200 to 400 euros.

Roll consumption is the main operating cost. A roll costs 10-20 euros and lasts 4-8 weeks depending on the organic load.

The installation is in the first compartment of the sump. The roller mat does not replace biological or chemical filtration.
